Definition: Literally “what is to be observed”; things that should be visited or seen because they “mark the character of a person or place”.
Pronunciation: vih-DEN-dah
Origin:
This term is a Latin adoption, and has changed very little from its origin. (Probably due to its extremely rare use and minimal linguistic diffusion.)
Why this word?
To be honest, I’ve never heard this term verbally used. I read it once in an old book, but beside that moment, I’d not seen it again.
But, aesthetically, it’s beautiful– even if I don’t understand what it really means.
How would you use this word in a sentence?
“If you spend all of your time inside, behind your computer, you’ll never experience the videnda that make one realize just how incredible life really is.”
