Clue

The word clue comes from the medieval word ‘clew’ meaning a ball of thread. In Greek Mythology, King Minos locked Theseus in a labyrinth out of which no one ever escaped. But Theseus was given a clew, a ball of thread to help him out. Since then, clues help us out of problematic situations.
